The (essential) First Post

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minute (~250 Words)

I’ve never been one to work out of unfamiliar places (ie. the office, then home when Covid happened), but I write this from a cafe, while people watching and sipping on my iced matcha latte (would a different environment spark creativity?). Interestingly as I reflect on 2020, the inertia to learn and experiment has grown, and this is a conscious attempt to keep doing both, which should be what life is about.

I’m not a voracious reader, but the discipline to read has contributed significantly to my personal development; and I wish to add on to the (already over-saturated) online literature out there. Inspired by “The Age of the Essay” (Paul Graham), my hope is that I’m better able to write and verbalise my thoughts, things I struggle with on a daily basis.

I would have lied if I said I haven’t thought of writing before, but self-doubt creeps in before I get started (ie. Why would anyone read my writings? Wouldn’t someone have wrote something on it before?). That said, this article (as well as some free time) gave me some conviction to try to get this going.

I hope to cover random adulting tips in short and simple ‘bites’. Each post would not take more than 10 min to read (hopefully) and might reference articles I found useful. My goal is to provide small bites for the occasional inspiration to the reader, either at work or just living life in general.

Feel free to send me feedback, a comment or a note at hello@saltedbites.com. Otherwise, go forth and explore!

When and what did you last experiment with, which succeeded / failed?
